GW Bariatric Center was designated as a Comprehensive Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). 


Cancer Treatment

Breast Center Accreditation (2016)

The GW Comprehensive Breast Care Center has been awarded full accreditation for three years by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation by the NAPBC is given only to centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care, and undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.


Cardiology

Awarded the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain — MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award (2020)

The award recognizes GW ӮƱ’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that GW ӮƱ has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association® clinical guidelines and recommendations.

By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety, GW ӮƱ has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval™. GW ӮƱ is fully accredited through 2022.

GW ӮƱ, in conjunction with the GW Cancer Center, has been named a Screening Center of Excellence by the Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) for its ongoing commitment to responsible lung cancer screening.

GW ӮƱ Designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® Orthopedic Care Facility

GW ӮƱ has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® Orthopedic Care Facility for total joint replacement and spine surgery. Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions. GW ӮƱ was selected for consistently delivering evidence-based, safe care.

GW ӮƱ Receives 2020 Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus, Target: Stroke Elite, and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll Award

The award from the American Heart Association®/American Stroke Association® is the highest stroke recognition possible. It recognizes GW ӮƱ’s commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center (2020)

GW ӮƱ has received two-year re-accreditation as a Comprehensive Stroke Center from the Joint Commission and American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. GW ӮƱ is one of only about four percent – 191 hospitals nationwide – to hold this distinction. Certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center means the organization has met The Joint Commission’s standards for Disease-Specific Care Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification, making it part of an elite group of providers focused on complex stroke care.

GW ӮƱ has been verified as a Level 1 Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for its expertise in providing high quality trauma care.
